La Vega Veterinary Clinic Staff

Dr. Tamra Walthall

Dr. Tamra Walthall is the principal veterinarian, and owner of La Vega Veterinary Clinic, with her husband Roy Walthall.

Dr Walthall is active in both her local and veterinary community. She served on the Board of Trustees for the La Vega ISD for 18 years, and as a Director the Texas Association School Boards (TASB) for 4 years.

She has served on the board of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) for many years and was recently elected to their Executive Board. She is a former President of the Texas Academy of Veterinary Practice (TAVP).

Dr. Walthall also works with the Waco Humane Society providing spays and neutered to recently adopted animals.

Dr. Walthall's husband, Roy, was a Government Instructor for McLennan Community College for 27 years. Their daughter, Telly, married to Kyle Ramsey, teaches at University High school in Waco. Their son, Rydell is a Transportation Engineer and soccer referee while he attends graduate school at the University of Texas in Austin.

Though she is not specialized, her talents lie in diagnostics with a special interest in Ultrasound.

Melody Berend

Melody is our office manager. Melody began working at LVVC in January of 2005 as lead veterinary technician. Prior to her years at LVVC she worked at Wise County Animal Clinic and Mellina Animal Hospital as a veterinary technician. Melody spent 2 years away from LVVC to work for he Texas Department Of State Health Services as a Public Health Technician for Zoonosis Control. She then returned as the Practice Manager. Melody loves animals and enjoys in helping provide care to all your animals. Melody is a mother of two wonderful children. Calder is her 19 yr old son who is very involved in rodeo from Bull riding to calf roping and team roping. Lindsey Jo is her 7 year old daughter that most of you clients are familiar with since Lindsey Jo spent a few of her first months at the clinic.Lindsey Jo is following in her mom and brothers footsteps and has began her rodeo career, She also has a 12 yr old stepson they have custody of, Matthew that enjoys video games and football. She has 3 corgies and several horses that are also part of her family and is married to a wonderful man, Jeremy that is a welder and helps with all their animals Melody


Sam Green

Sam Green is our head technician. Samantha has had a love for helping out animals since she was a little girl. She always had several pets growing up pet rats, cats and dogs. She moved to Texas 3yrs ago and was hired by us for receptionist but worked her way up to one of the head Vet Techs. She has a boyfriend and together they have 2 dogs and 3 cats! Sam


Connie Lussier

Connie Lussier is our receptionist technician. Connie came to us with many rescue animals before she joined our staff. Her heart has always been with animals and she's not planning on out growing that. She has a nine year old son Jeffrey that she shares her passion with. They share their home with her boyfriend of six years, two cats, two dogs, two birds and four fish tanks. The thing she enjoys most about working here is all the new animal friends she gets to meet. Debbie Eckstrom

Debbie Eckstrom is our Kennel technician. Debbie has been working with animals all her life. She has done agility dog training (run,run) and have been vet teching for 8yrs. She has also worked at the Humane Society for 4 years doing intake but also helping them with their bottle baby kittens! She also have 2 dogs of her own and some kitties! Debbie


Tiffany Burdett

Tiffany Burdett is our student technician. Ever since Tiffany was a little girl, She has wanted to work with animals. The various species of animals, parasites, and diseases fascinated her. She has been working for La Vega Veterinary Clinic for a year in May 2017. She is graduating the Veterinary Assistant Certificate program at McLennan Community College in May of 2017. She will start the Veterinary Technology program this fall. Her goal is to get a Masters Degree in this field and work for a mixed practice for a while. She would love to work with wild animals at some point, but for now She is sticking with small animals. Tiffany


Joyce Popham

Joyce Popham is our special assistant. Joyce has been helping at the clinic for so long because her love for animals runs deep! She is always there when we need her from filing, to cleaning, to helping prep animals for surgery. She always lends a helping hand no matter who needs it. She also helps the Humane Society when they need it as well. She has 6 dogs and two cats and babysits some cows on her land! Joyce


Ciara Carbello

Ciara Carbello is our groomer.
