La Vega Veterinary Clinic Staff

Dr. Tamra Walthall

Dr. Tamra Walthall is the principal veterinarian, and co-owner with her husband Roy.

Tamra is active in the community. She served on the Board of Trustees for the La Vega Independent School District for 18 years. She has also been a director for the Texas State School Board Association (TASB) and served on the Animal Control Board for the city of Waco in the past. She will serve on the board of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) again in the Spring of 2010. Dr. Walthall also works with the Waco Humane Society providing veterinary care for animals at the shelter and in foster care.

Dr. Walthall's husband is an Instructor for McLennan Community College. They have a daughter who teaches 6th Grade at Connally ISD, and a son who attends UT in Austin.

Though she is not specialized, her talents lie in diagnostics with a special interest in Ultrasound.

Carol Culverhouse

Carol Culverhouse is our Head Veterinary Technician. She takes care for all the animals, as well as restraining them for examinations. She also does the labwork as well as much of the cleaning. Carol is married to a wonderful man, Barry and they have 2 grown children. They have two grandchildren and four step grandchildren. Carol has Rocky, a rotti mix and Peanut, a chihuahua/rat terrier mix. Beside her family and friends these two pets are the love of her life. Carol Culverhouse


Melody Berend

Melody is our office manager. Melody is a mother of two wonderful children. Calder is her 13 yr old son who is very involved in rodeo from Jr. Bull riding to calf roping and team roping. Calder also shows livestock and plays football. Lindsey Jo is her year old daughter that most of you clients are familiar with since Lindsey Jo spent a few of her first months at the clinic. Melody's enjoys team roping and barrel racing in her free time. She has two corgies and several horses that are also part of her family and has a special friend that is a PRCA roper. Melody"


Angela Robinson

Angela Robinson is responsible for walking, feeding and medicating the animals on weekends and Thursdays. Though she works fulltime at the family business Gritten Wrecker Service during the rest of the week. Angela can always be counted on whenever any patient or boarder needs special care. Upon special request, she is also availble to meet clients, when feasible, who need to pick up their pets after hours.


Emily Grmela

Emily Grmela is part time receptionist and veterinary assistant. She shows lambs and extremely exceptional in volleyball and showmanship. She has a new niece and three cats, three dogs and several show lambs. Emily


Dr. Doyle Cooper

Dr. Doyle Cooper works at La Vega Veterinary Clinic part time. The former owner of Lake Air Animal Hospital, he now works parttime at many veterinary hospitals in the Central Texas area. He is an excellent surgeon. He and his wife Ramona travel extensively. Dr Cooper


Dr. Andrew Cunningham

Dr. Andrew Cunningham graduated in 1987 from Southwest Baptist University. He then attended the University of Missouri and graduated in 1991 with a veterinary medical degree. He has practiced mixed and small animal Medicine and surgery. Dr. Cunningham is newly married to Mrs. Denise Cunningham. His hobbies are raising racing quarter horses and training them to race.
